Today we will analyse Rajasthan Royals and at the end we will also see their probable11 for first match.
RAJASTHAN ROYALS [23 players]
Heinrich Klaasen, Benjamin Stokes, Jaydev Unadkat, Sanju Samson, Jofra Archer, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jos Buttler, Ajinkya Rahane, Darcy Short, Rahul Tripathi, Dhawal Kulkarni, Zahir Khan Pakteen, Ben Laughlin, Stuart Binny, Dushmantha Chameera, Anureet Singh, Aryaman Vikram Birla, Midhun S, Shreyas Gopal, Prashant Chopra, Jatin Saxena, Ankit Sharma, Mahipal Lomror
Batsman:Steve Smith ruled out of IPL and this was major setback for this franchise because he was their best batsman as well as an elite captain who has the ability to win the title for them.Nevertheless they have another very good leader in form of Rahane so they will hope that their team play well under his leadership.
In batsman they have Rahane and Rahul Tripathi as an opener where as former one is an extremely talented player and his class is treat to watch on the field and they have high hopes from Rahul Tripathi who had done extremellly in previous edition. Then in middleorder they have Sanju Samson and any one of Klassen or D Arcy Short will play at no4 for them so they have good bunch of player in middle order who can play according to game satiuation.
I will rate them 4.5 out of 5.
Bowling:By taking Ashwin for such whopping amount doesn’t seems to be smart buy in my point of view.Same is the case with Mujeeb Zadran they have invested lot on him but they already have two spinner in their team who are certain in playing 11 ,so their is no point in investing too much in form of third spinner whose playing chances is very slim in initial matches. They have certainly done a good job by taking Tye in their team, as his t20 record is quiete amazing and on several occasion he has changed the game scenario by taking wicket in death overs where as cutters of Mohit Sharma will also make life of batsman difficult.M Stoinis is also there to support these two fasters.
In spin department Ashwin experience may count but his t20 record is not appreciable ,he leaked lot of runs on batting friendly pitches same case apply on Axar Patel when he start leaking run then flow rate of that leakage is very high .If they opt to go with an extra spinner then performance of Mujeeb Zadran is certainly to watch out, he has lot of variation in form of leg break ,googly and some time he also bowls off spin, so at this age he has got lot of talent .It will be intresting to see how he utilises his talent and how Indian batsman will play him ,his real test will be against Indian Players.
So i will rate them 4 out of 5
Allrounders:They have limited All rounders in form Axar Patel, Marcus Stoinis,Yuvraj Singh(if needed) and we can count Ashwin but in t20 his batting technique doesn’t allow me to put him under this category as he will bat lower down the order and at that place power hitter are required not batsman having good technique. On bowling surfaces his technique can be proved handy. So in this department they have only that amount of player which are certain to play in their 11 and they don’t have any back-up for these player in case of injury but these three (Stionis, Yuvraj and Patel) are capable of wining the match for them single handedly on his day.
I will rate 3.5 out of 5 in all-round department.
Quality Of Overseas Players: They have good pool of overseas player and all are t20 specialist .This list ranging from t20 boss Chris Gayle to t20 death specialist Andrew Tye .Players like Stoinis , Miller and Finch(will join later) makes their lower middle order quiete strong. If we add Gayle and Tye in this list than this look more threating on the paper and calliber of all thsese is un-matchable .Means this year Punjab has done smartest buy in overseas department.
In this department they have also added young sensation of Afganistan but in initail matches his playing chances are very less.Overall in this department they have lot of firepower and if all clicks then their road to playoff will be without any breaker and it will be as smoth as driving a car on high way with full speed.
So in overseas player I will rate them 5 out of 5.
Captaincy ,Coaching and Staff: This is department they needs to ponder out .Their decision to make Ashwin as captain inspite of having a experienced captain in form of Finch is quiete amazing, his inexperience in this department may backfire on them in critical satiuation .I haven’t seen him captaining any side till now so I can’t comment more on this .In my point of view his intellegence should help him in this job .
In coaching and Staff they have reliable Viru who will train them and will also chrish them ,so there will be less pressure in their dugout as comprasion to other team.
So in this department I will rate them 4 out of 5.
Wicketkeeping: KL Rahul will be make shift wicket keeper for them and every one knows that how costly can be these make shift wicket keeper for their own team ,lot of catches will be dropped ,Stumping chances will be missed and many more ,only advantage will be that they can go with an extra batsman. It will be intresting to see that wether this decision will go in their favour or not.
So in this department i will rate them 3 out 5.
So this franchise is one of the contender of wining the title this year.
They got 23.5 out of 30.
Probable 11 for first match:
KL Rahul(wk), Christopher Gayle,Mayank Agarwal,Yuvraj Singh,David Miller,Marcus Stoinis,Axar Patel,Ravichandran Ashwin, Andrew Tye,Mohit Sharma, Barinder Singh Sran
